Wellbeing

What It’s For

We offer free talking therapy for those experiencing or living with sight loss and vision impairment. Our specialist service is currently funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and led by a qualified counsellor who has over 20 years professional and lived experience of visual impairment. Anyone is eligible for this service if they have a visual impairment that cannot be corrected by glasses.

Group sessions are run periodically for those with shared experiences or family and loved ones. These are advertised on our calendar or newsletter. You do not need to be receiving therapy to join our group sessions.

What We Do:

  • An assessment to understand more about you and your situation, and a support plan drafted.
  • Face to face or telephone counselling sessions, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending on your needs.
  • Sessions last 50 minutes.
  • Up to 20 consecutive sessions.
  • Monthly reviews of your support plan.

What We Don’t Do:

  • We don’t provide sessions in your home. Counselling appointments are from our premises in central Worthing or can be over the telephone.
  • We can’t always begin your therapy straight away. We have a small waiting list, and most people are seen within a couple of months.
  • Share any of your therapy information, regardless of whether you participate in other activities at the charity.

This service has been made possible by the incredible support from the National Lottery Community Fund.
