Benefits & Advocacy

What It’s For

Our benefits advice and advocacy service supports people who find the process of applying for entitlements challenging or inaccessible due to their visual impairment. By reducing barriers to financial assistance, we can enhance people’s overall independence and wellbeing.

What we can help with

  • PIP (Personal Independence Payments). Over 18’s.
  • DLA (Disability Living Allowance). Being phased out for adults. Still available for under 18’s, before transitioning onto PIP as an adult.
  • AA (Attendance Allowance). For retired people who do not receive PIP or DLA.
  • Pension Credit
  • Blue Badges
  • Bus passes and/or Railcards
  • Access Cards
  • Blind Person’s Allowance

What we can’t help with

  • ESA (Employment Support Allowance). The Job Centre support with this.
  • Carer’s Allowance.
  • Passports or Citizens cards. This can be done at a post office.
  • Healthcare cards.
  • Driving Licenses.
  • General sorting of personal paperwork.
  • Banking or dealing with banks.
