SSW is looking for Admin Volunteers to support our small team with a range of administrative and communication tasks. Your support will help us stay organised, respond to our community, and deliver services for blind and partially sighted people.

Role Description: Admin Volunteer

Reporting to: Relevant staff member depending on task

Admin Volunteers provide valuable day-to-day support across different areas of SSW’s work. This varied role helps ensure our services, events, and communications run efficiently and effectively.

What You Will Be Doing

Tasks may include:

  • Answering phone calls and taking messages
  • Updating our database and making referrals
  • Responding to emails in the main inbox or forwarding as needed
  • Sending initial responses to incoming referrals
  • Posting on social media on behalf of SSW
  • Creating posters and flyers using Canva
  • Sending event email notifications via Mailchimp
  • Setting up appointments
  • Scanning and securely storing documents
  • Researching information for projects, bookings, and activities
  • Supporting basic research for funding bids and drafting simple application content
  • Helping with benefit forms (with guidance)
  • Taking notes at meetings when required

Skills & Qualities

You don’t need experience in everything — support and guidance will be provided.

The following will be helpful:

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable using email, basic IT systems, and online tools
  • Friendly and professional communication skills
  • Ability to handle information sensitively and confidentially
  • Willingness to learn and help across different tasks
